The Children’s Heart Foundation (CHF) along with the Adult Congenital Heart Association (ACHA) hosted their annual Congenital Heart Walk in Forest Park in St. Louis on August 28. Families affected by congenital heart defects, as well their doctors and nurses, came together to walk in honor and support of each other. This event raised over $50,000 to benefit the CHF and ACHA!
I joined my best friend and her family to walk in honor of their sweet Jude, who passed away far too soon last year after fighting a rare heart defect. This family has been through so much pain, but are still full of an abundance of love, joy, and appreciation in their lives.
They hadn’t really planned on photos, but I brought my camera along, and sometimes “lifestyle” family portraits can just happen. Family photos don’t have to be posed, and they can happen anytime, anywhere (even while doing a charity walk or getting coffee). These are real photos of real emotion, happiness, and love; because that’s what real life is.
I’ll leave you with this: approximately 40,000 newborns each year are born with a congenital heart defect. If you can, please donate to help aid in the research and treatment of a disease that impacts so many families and young lives.
